The Hunt
by Jan Neuharth
The Hunt, set in the elite foxhunting
community of Middleburg, Virginia just outside Washington, D.C., tells the
story of Doug Cummings, an attractive, wealthy lawyer and horseman, who is
the target of a twisted but clever scheme to frame him for murder. When
Doug's former lover and then his horse groom are killed, Doug becomes the
prime suspect. With the media and local law enforcement breathing down
his neck, Doug struggles to protect his loved ones and races to find the
killer. But the evidence against Doug mounts until even his own attorney
doesn't believe him.
As the plot twists and turns through the picturesque
countryside, it carries the reader into the mysterious, romanticized
lifestyle of the old-money, tweedy, horsey set.
The Hunt was a 2004 Benjamin
Franklin Award Finalist and was nominated for a 2004 Library of Virginia Literary
